Nature Play® is... child-led play, for all ages, every week, all weather, all seasons and its free
When: Every Sunday starting (at the new time of) 1pm.
As the play session is designed around the childs timing, there is no 'end time'. You can leave the play session whenever it suits you, depending on nap times, energy levels, weather etc.
Meeting Point: At the green signpost, just beside the Oxleas Wood Cafe (see map below, the red dot marks the meeting point).
We will wait for about 10 minutes for any latecomers before we set off on our walk.
Limited Numbers: Each session has a limited number of spaces, just 12 adults and their children. To secure your place go to the facebook group for full booking details.
What to Bring: A healthy snack to contribute for a shared lunch, a cup for tea (which we will provide), a picnic blanket, and wet weather gear if it's raining.
What to Expect: We begin with a slow walk (about 20mins) to our base in the middle of the woods. At the base we settle down to share together our snacks and tea. From there our children can 'go', explore and step into the world of child-led play. Pushchairs should be replaced with slings or carriers as the walking path will pose a challenge to anyone with a pushchair.
Please study Nature Play guidelines before you join us as it will give you an idea of how we support child-led play within the sessions.
Responsibility: We encourage an atmosphere of free play for the children. However, you will be responsible for your own child/ren, yourself and your belongings. For safety reasons, you are welcome at Nature Play only when accompanied by a child (unless two adults attend for the same child) and when no more than three children are in the care of a single adult.
Toilets: There are toilets at the Oxleas Wood Cafe, which is nearby our meeting point. Once in the woods, you can pick your own bush or tree to 'water'.
